Website Design:
Designing a website involves clear thinking and broad assessment. Developing a substantial site usually takes a considerable amount of research as well. Brand Development, content structure, information integrity, technical writing, database design, graphic & media design, and production are all elements of the design process. They should be met head-on to ensure that your project develops in a professional manner.
Before the wheels start rolling however, take the time to draft a short statement of your primary goals for the site. This will serve as the foundation for future development, and will help those involved with your project to remain focused on your original priorities.
You should know who your target audience will be, and plan to organize the site to meet their needs. The experience of your users will vary from beginners who will need a well prepared introduction, to expert users who may simply want quick access to information. A good design should accommodate both.
You will want to consider a design approach. Your goal at this point is to identify effective online models that have been established by successful businesses, perhaps relative to your own, and to evaluate the functional and aesthetic elements of each design from a user's point of view. This way you learn to appreciate the basic needs of your audience, and are better equipped to prepare your design.
Internet Content Management Applications:
XCMS for website construction made simple. Building a website can become complicated and time consuming due to all of the variables related to handling the website content and configurations. The XCMSystem brings many of these variables into one interface allowing simple configurations updates, CSS updates, file updates, content updates and MUCH more. The largest IT expense a business is forced to cover is due to the complexity of a content management system and the ongoing support the system requires. This system DOES NOT fall into that category!
During 2008, the sites and software suite had been under going major updates for release early spring 2009. This website is hosted and managed using the scottadata.com Xpress CMS system. Originally built in classic ASP using VBscript and Javascript functions against MS Access databases, it has evolved into an MS SQL 2005 dataset using an open source WYSIWYG editor with several modifications and common Windows server side languages. Managed and maintained in house under local servers since 2001. Read more about the XCMS application or try out the sample application currently still in development by logging in as guest/guest (OFF due to updates!).
